Aladdin-Themed 'Treasure' Will Be Disney's Next Cruise Ship

The popular attraction featured on the Disney Wish, AquaMouse, will include a brand new storyline that follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on an adventure into an ancient temple. Guests will tour this mysterious ruin looking for a glimpse of treasure within as they, along with Mickey and Minnie, encounter mishaps and boobie traps along the way. AquareMouse was the first ever attraction to be featured on the Disney Cruise Line and we are excited to see it included on the Disney Treasure. Just months after the Disney Wish set sail in July, the company is already eyeing its next cruise ship.

AquaMouse, Disney's water ride that debuted on Disney Wish, will also be a signature attraction on Disney Treasure. As on Wish, riders will enjoy an animated adventure with Disney characters before they start twisting and turning around the ship. Treasure will add a third, new show to the rotation of animated shorts, along with the two from Wish. Passengers enamored with the Haunted Mansion Parlor will find themed souvenirs in the ship's onboard shops, so they can take home a mirror full of hitchhiking ghosts or a clock that strikes the 13th hour to start up some ghoulish revelry. Disney will replace the popular "Star Wars"-themed Hyperspace Lounge, which debuted on Disney Wish, with the Haunted Mansion Parlor on Disney Treasure.

Disney Treasure Stage Shows

When you walk onto the Disney Treasure, you will be warmly welcomed into the Grand Hall. Every Disney Cruise Line ship’s entry hall is themed to a Disney film, and this one is reminiscent of the gilded palace and beauty of Agrabah from “Aladdin”. Not only is this the place where you begin your journey on the ship, it’s one where you will likely spend time in for entertainment, hanging out with your fellow travelers, and other special surprises. Serving as Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the spellbinding adventure of Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and the celebrated Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. The design of the submarine-style interiors will call upon 19th century steampunk influences with polished metals and industrial touches. A mysterious window into the depths of the uncharted oceans along the ceiling will make guests feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus, while a decorative statement rug in the center of the space will honor Captain Nemo’s fabled nemesis, the giant squid.

In Case You Missed It: Here’s Our Grand Reveal of the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship!

As you can see from the concept art, the columns and the centerpiece atrium light fixture are designed to evoke Aladdin, while also retaining a luxurious and modern appearance. That’s a really tough needle to thread, as usually these are two very different types of architecture–I’d normally expect Agrabah to feature a lot of ornate detail, patterns, and texture. Still, I’m hopeful and optimistic that Imagineering can stick the landing on this, as the concept is really intriguing and much better, in my view, than the atrium of the Wish. The ship will introduce several other venues and experiences inspired by beloved Disney characters and stories.

The presentation didn’t give us much of a look at the chandelier in the Grand Hall of the Disney Treasure, but by what we did see, it appears that the design reflects a Moroccan style of lighting. If we compare the Grand Hall of the Wish with the concept art for the Disney Treasure we can see that the Wish has a much lighter color palate. Whilst the Disney Treasure Grand Hall seems to be structurally identical to the Wish, it is very different in the way it is themed and the colors that it uses. It is very likely that the Disney Treasure staterooms will follow Disney Wish and have different themes.

Next Disney Cruise Line Ship Will be Named Disney Treasure, To Be Adventure-Themed

I understand that the Disney Treasure isn’t viable by catering only to diehard fans with tales of adventure, but it can still be more cohesive than the Disney Wish. Hero Zone and the Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas, popular spaces from the Disney Wish, will provide family entertainment aboard the Disney Treasure. The third, all-new production for the Disney Treasure is “The Tale of Moana,” featuring set design and music with elements of Pacific Islands culture that inspires the classic coming-of-age tale. This production will immerse audiences in a transformational adventure across land and sea.

New Dining Experiences Inspired By Walt Disney Animation Studios And Pixar

Guests can indulge in specialty cocktails (including spirit-free versions) with ghostly messages and ghoulish embellishments (gummy eyeballs, anyone?). They can also spot homages to the original park attraction and its cast of ghostly characters, as well as become acquainted with new seafaring haunts. Each Disney ship has three included restaurants that guests and their dining team rotate through each night in either an early or late dinner seating. On Disney Treasure, one restaurant will be new to the fleet and two will return from Disney Wish, but with a slightly different spin. These adult-only experiences will offer elevated interpretations of Disney adventures and Disney Parks attractions, with sophisticated theming ranging from subtle inspiration to full immersion, allowing guests to customize their vacation according to their interests. Like aboard the Disney Wish, little ones will delight in a Toy Story-themed district designed especially for families with toddlers and young children that will include a splash zone, wading pool, family waterslide and smoothie bar.

With that said, there are still a ton of unknowns, and Disney Cruise Line has teased a ton of additional surprises. The accommodations aboard the Disney Treasure will strike a balance between modern design and nostalgic charm with a natural color scheme and custom artwork that will entice guests to peer beyond their staterooms into worlds from adventurous Disney movies. Disney Cruise Line knew this bar was the ace up its sleeve among fans, so they announced this separately and with much more detail than the rest of the Treasure reveal. See our full post, Haunted Mansion Bar Materializing on Disney Treasure Cruise Ship, for more concept art and details. Guests will also encounter a few new ghoulish faces in a portrait gallery depicting the Disney Treasure’s own ghostly residents. This 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea-inspired pub replaces Keg & Compass, which is a nice and underrated venue–this is the perfect thematic fit for it.

Disney Treasure Fall 2024 Onboard Booking Blockout Dates

If you compare the Disney Treasure concept art with the reality of the Grand Hall of the Disney Wish you can see a couple of differences in structure, but of course, this may change when the ship is actually launched. Really not a whole lot at the moment, aside from that she will be basically the same design as her sister ship the Disney Wish. The Triton Class ships have many more Concierge staterooms than either the Classic or Dream Class ships. The Tale of Moana will begin in modern day on the fictional island of Motunui, in a set design filled with hints of brilliant cultures of the Pacific Islands that will appear throughout the show. The Tale of Moana will feature puppetry that soars to mythical heights, including a fiery Te Kā on a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te Kā and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te Kā puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself.

Here, guests will find a menu of themed cocktails and light snacks, such as waffles. Palo Steakhouse, Enchante and The Rose, a bar located at the entrance to both, will be found on Disney Treasure as they are on Disney Wish. They will be available for guests ages 18 and up for an additional fee, which I'd argue is some of the best money you can spend at sea, given how enjoyable the meals are. Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palette of deep blue, turquoise and gold, with a design inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia and Africa — including the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney's "Aladdin." Disney Wish joined the cruise line in the summer of 2022, ushering in an all-new Triton class of three ships that will join the original Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Expertly developed programming combines physical play and age-appropriate technology to create deeply engaging, enriching experiences led by a team of Disney-trained counselors. Disney’s Oceaneer Club onboard the Disney Treasure will feature a familiar mix of dedicated spaces based on Imagineering, Star Wars, Marvel, Mickey & Friends, as well as Princesses for guests ranging in age from 3-12. Steeped in the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age, the venue’s upscale ambiance will complement a sophisticated menu inspired by the fusion of cultural flavors found throughout California and designed with families in mind. The adventure onboard the Disney Treasure continues each night at dinner in one of three themed rotational restaurants.

The sculpture will bring the spirit of EPCOT to life when guests enter the suite through music and lighting effects. The Disney Treasure will feature a sequel to the AquaMouse which deputed in 2022 with the Disney Wish launching with an all new adventure. Suspended high above the upper decks, powerful jets will propel two-person ride vehicles through 760 feet of winding tubes, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the ship below. For the first time, the nostalgia and lore from beloved theme park attractions will come to Disney Cruise Line with a unique lineup of Disney Parks-inspired venues aboard the Disney Treasure.

This is different from the itineraries on Disney Wish, which are three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. The longer itineraries will give guests more time to enjoy the ship, so Disney has to create more experiences to keep them entertained. Disney Treasure will debut "Disney The Tale of Moana" as its new Broadway-style musical. The show will mark the first time Disney has brought the story of Moana to the stage. The musical will feature popular songs and favorite characters from the animated movie. The bar will be designed to resemble a first-class drawing room on a classic oceanliner that's been taken into the ghostly realm.
